About the role

We are seeking a professional, highly motivated and experienced Associate Lawyer to join our Corporate & Commercial team with a focus on Intellectual Property (IP), based in Melbourne or Geelong.

With three to four years of post-admission experience in a commercial law setting, you will bring demonstrated experience in IP advisory, protection, and enforcement strategy, trade mark and design application drafting, filing, prosecution and oppositions, registration and renewal portfolio management, licensing and commercialisation agreements,  and general IP risk management and governance advice.

Your ability to adapt in a dynamic environment and work collaboratively will be essential, working both autonomously and as part of a close team.

Working closely with an experienced Special Counsel and with the support of the broader team, your skills in other areas of commercial law (franchising and corporate) will also be beneficial.  You can be part of a growing practice area, developing your skills as you learn and grow with the practice.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing accurate, timely and considered IP services (with particular focus on trade marks, designs, and copyright)
• Providing outstanding client service, including onboarding new clients
• Managing multiple tasks efficiently and accurately, including deadline and reminder management
• Maintaining control of priorities through effective time management
• Accuracy and attention to detail

What you’ll bring:

• At least three to four years post-admission experience in a commercial team
• Demonstrated experience in IP
• Demonstrated experience in building client relationships
• Exceptional organisational and file management skills with a high level of attention to detail
• A positive, proactive, and flexible attitude
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team
• Exposure to franchising and general commercial matters (desirable but not essential)
