About the role

We are looking for a professional, highly motivated and knowledgeable Senior Associate/Senior Lawyer or Special Counsel, with demonstrated experience in working with employers and businesses to provide commercially focused advice to a broad range of clients.

This is a busy practice area, with a strong base of existing clients, so your ability to relate well with clients is crucial. You will work closely with our Principal Lawyer who is an Accredited Specialist and our team, including providing support and guidance to early career lawyers and law graduates.

You will provide tailored advice on complex matters to a variety of clients ranging from SMEs to large national organisations with a broad range of interesting and exciting work.

You will be organised, motivated and feel confident working autonomously and as part of a close team, with excellent attention to detail and a focus on responding to requests in a timely manner.

We are looking for someone who is able to work full time, or part time which may include working across five days with reduced hours or a compressed working week and could be based in Geelong or Melbourne with flexibility to work from home as well.

You will deliver:

• Specialised, tailored advice
• Strategic and cohesive partnerships with clients
• A proven ability to problem solve and improve processes
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Efficient time management to maintain control of key priorities
• Presentations to current and potential clients
• Coaching and mentoring

You will bring:

• Providing general employment advice;
• Industrial relations;
• OHS, ideally in Victorian state legislation;
• Assessing employment related legal risks and advising on commercially relevant options;
• Remuneration and termination issues;
• Complex employee management issues including employment related claims, investigations and litigation;
• Unfair dismissals; and
• Litigated disputes within the FWC, State and Federal Courts.
